About Ken

Ken Whittington began his career in Mississippi after three years of secondary education as biology major. Before graduating, he joined the United States Navy where he served 4 years as a barber onboard a guided missile   destroyer during the Middle East Conflict.  He was awarded several military commendations before returning to his civilian desire to become a cosmetologist.

Licensed in 1984, Ken began his quest to become an industry icon.  After a period of working with several national and community theatre productions, he was inducted into the National Cosmetology Association’s Hair America where he served on various educational committees and board of directors.  This led to opportunities to work with some of the industry’s well known manufacturers such as Matrix, Redken, Wella USA, and finally 14 years as artistic director and platform artist for Joewell Shears.

Ken has established an eclectic style of teaching as well as his daily execution of his craft.  His love of the industry continues to inspire those around him and his sense of humor is rather contagious.

Ken is currently pursuing a career in the film industry while continuing to serve the community as a co-owner and stylist at Whittington Berard The Salon located at 112 W Monticello St, Brookhaven, MS 39601.
